Visa: takes majority stake in Mexico's Prosa

(CercleFinance.com) - Visa has announced that it has reached a definitive agreement to acquire a majority stake in Prosa, a Mexican payment processing specialist.


The credit card issuer explains that, with this acquisition, it intends to accelerate the adoption of digital payments in the country.

Under the terms of the agreement, Prosa will continue to operate independently and offer its own technological infrastructure - Visa intends to strengthen its product offering with new digital solutions.

Prosa - which processes over ten billion transactions a year via its network - has several leading Mexican banks among its main customers, including Banorte, HSBC Mexico, Invex, Santander Mexico, Scotiabank Mexico and Banjército.

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
