McAfee: EU clears acquisition by Advent and Permira

(CercleFinance.com) - The European Commission has cleared the joint acquisition of McAfee Corp.
by Advent International Corporation and Permira Holdings Limited.

McAfee is a US company that provides advanced security solutions to consumers - a household name on many PCs.

Advent is a US-based private equity investor with interests in several sectors, including healthcare, manufacturing, technology, business and financial services.

Finally, Permira is a UK private equity firm providing management services to a number of investment funds.

The Commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would not give rise to any competition concerns given the very limited horizontal overlaps and vertical relations between the companies' activities.
