Citigroup: mixed quarterly results.

(CercleFinance.com) - Citigroup's first-quarter accounts were released before Wall Street opened on Thursday, including net income of 4.
1 billion dollars, up 600 million dollars compared to the same period last year.

Excluding extraordinary items, the US bank's EPS reached 1.35 dollar, 12 cents higher than the consensus, in comparison with 1.1 dollar at the end of the first 3 months of the previous year.

Net banking income came in at 18.12 billion dollars, vs. 17.56 billion dollars in Q1 2016. The consensus was less optimistic, expecting a smaller increase, to around 17.75 billion dollars. Revenue generated in North America reached 8.4 billion dollars, compared to 7.81 billion dollars in Q1 2016.
