Carlyle: EU clears acquisition of Garnica group

(CercleFinance.com) - Under EU Merger Regulations, the European Commission has cleared the acquisition of the Spanish Grupo Garnica Plywood ("Garnica") by the US Carlyle Group.


Garnica develops, produces and supplies plywood solutions for a variety of applications, mainly in the European Economic Area.

Carlyle is a global alternative asset manager with investments in several disciplines.

The Commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would not give rise to competition concerns given the absence of horizontal overlaps and vertical links between the companies' activities.
