AT&T: mobile network affected by major breakdown

(CercleFinance.com) - AT&T's telephone network was seriously disrupted on Thursday by a massive outage affecting tens of thousands of customers, which weighed heavily on the telecom operator's Wall Street share price.


The San Francisco Fire Department expressed concern, pointing out that the difficulties encountered by AT&T's mobile subscribers were likely to prevent them from reaching emergency services.

He advised users to use a landline in case they needed to reach 911.

According to Downdetector, a site that monitors network outages in the USA, some 60,000 incidents are currently underway within AT&T's network.

The group has not yet officially reacted, but its share price was down by nearly 3% on Thursday morning on the New York Stock Exchange, making it one of the biggest decliners on the S&P 500 index.
