AT&T: to launch 5G technology in 2018

(CercleFinance.com) - AT&T expects to be the first US company to introduce mobile 5G service in a dozen markets by late 2018, the mobile service provider said on Wednesday.


"We're moving quickly to begin deploying mobile 5G this year," said president of AT&T Technology and Operations Melissa Arnoldi.

The phone giant said it has already laid the foundations for mobile 5G with the launch of 5G Evolution in 23 major cities, such as Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Future 5G technologies mean faster speeds and ultra-low latency, capable of operating in future driverless vehicles, as well as virtual reality and immersive 4K video.
