Diageo: acquires Don Papa super premium rum

(CercleFinance.com) - On Tuesday Diageo announced the acquisition of Don Papa, a dark rum made in the Philippines, for a total of 260 million dollars, with a view to continuing its development in the "super premium" segment.


The British spirits group underlines that Don Papa has reported average annual growth of 29% in Europe in recent years, outperforming market growth of 18% p.a.

Launched in 2012, Don Papa Rum is currently marketed in around thirty countries, with France, Germany and Italy as the main markets.

Its bottles are available from around forty euros.

The acquisition, which will be financed from the group's existing cash, should be completed in H1.
