BHP: record profits in 2021-22

(CercleFinance.com) - BHP has reported record underlying attributable profit for 2021-22, up 39% at 23.
8 billion dollars, along with record free cash flow from continuing operations of 24.3 billion dollars.

The Australian mining company says that this performance reflects higher coal and copper prices and disciplined cost control. At 40.6 billion dollars, underlying EBITDA represented a 65% margin from continuing operations.

Also calling for a reduction in the group's debt, the board decided on a final dividend of 1.75 dollar per share, representing a total of 8.9 billion dollars, bringing the total payout ratio to 77%, well above its minimum target ratio of 50%.

BHP says that it enters 2022-23 in great shape strategically, operationally and financially, and well prepared to manage an uncertain near-term environment.
