Savencia: 4ME fine imposed by the French Competition Authority

(CercleFinance.com) - The French Competition Authority announced today that it has imposed a fine of 4,068,000 euros on chocolate maker De Neuville, jointly and severally with its parent company Savencia Holding.

The Authority has imposed a fine for "practices aimed at restricting the online sale of De Neuville brand chocolates by its franchisees, on the one hand, and the latter's sales to professional customers, on the other".

From 2006 to 2019, the contractual arrangements between the franchisor and its franchisees prevented the latter from freely selling their products on the Internet, with De Neuville reserving exclusive rights to online sales.

The Authority also states that "from 2006 to 2022, De Neuville restricted the commercial freedom of franchisees in their canvassing of professional customers".
