Iberdrola: contract with GE for wind farm in Massachusetts

(CercleFinance.com) - Iberdrola announces that, via its US subsidiary, Avangrid Renewables, it has selected General Electric (GE) to supply the wind turbines for the Vineyard Wind 1 project in Massachusetts, the first large-scale offshore wind farm to be built in the US.


The 62 wind turbines, each rated at 13.6 MW, will be manufactured at GE's plants in Saint-Nazaire and Cherbourg, France. The contract involves over 1,500 employees at these GE sites.

With an installed capacity of 800 MW and representing an investment of E2.5bn, Vineyard Wind 1 will be the largest wind farm built in the country, and one of Iberdrola's largest worldwide.
