Deutsche Telekom: to combine Dutch tower unit with Cellnex

(CercleFinance.com) - Deutsche Telekom has agreed to combine its Dutch tower business with that of Spanish cellphone tower operator Cellnex, in a deal that confirms the sector's recent concentration.


Under the agreement, the German phone giant would transfer its Dutch tower business T-Mobile Infra to a newly established and independently managed company for 250 million euros in cash.

In a second step, the newly formed company will contribute the received T-Mobile Infra business to the Dutch unit of Cellnex.

This new company, which will have about 4,300 fiber sites, towers and data centers, including 180 planned new sites, will be the largest independent cell mobile tower company in the Netherlands.

For the record, Telefonica recently sold its tower unit to a US infrastructure group, while Vodafone is planning to list its European tower unit in the next few months.
