Ford: details its electric vehicle initiatives

(CercleFinance.com) - Ford Motor Company announces that it is investing in a wide range of electric vehicle programs, while working on the construction of a complete electric vehicle.


At the same time, the car maker plans to expand its hybrid electric vehicle offering and offer hybrid powertrains across its Ford Blue range in North America by the end of the decade.

Ford is therefore equipping its Tennessee Electric Vehicle Center in BlueOval City and plans to begin deliveries of new-generation electric trucks as early as 2026.

In addition, the Avon Lake (Ohio) assembly plant is being expanded to produce a new electric utility vehicle from the middle of the decade.

Battery sites are also under construction at BlueOval Battery Park Michigan and at the BlueOval SK joint venture in Tennessee and Kentucky.

Lastly, Skunkworks teams in California are working on the design of future electric vehicles, including a small electric vehicle that is 'flexible and affordable'.

These initiatives support the development of a differentiated and profitably growing electric vehicle sector, Ford says, which points out that in Q1 2024, sales of its electric vehicles leapt 86%, and by +42% for hybrids from last year.
