Equinor: start-up of solar power plant in Brazil
(CercleFinance.com) - Equinor announced on Friday that its Mendubim solar power project in Brazil is now operational, which should enable it to increase its electricity production in the country by 30%.
The Norwegian energy group points out that the site, which has a capacity of 531 MW, will produce around 1.2 TWh of electricity per year.
Equinor specifies that 60% of the production will be destined for Norwegian industrial group Novo Nordisk's Alunorte plant, one of the world's largest alumina refineries, under a 20-year PPA supply contract.
The rest of the production will be sold on the market.
