Equinor: resumption of helicopter flights in the NCS

(CercleFinance.com) - Equinor, in consultation with the Civil Aviation Authority, announces the resumption of flights with Sikorsky S-92 helicopters to facilities on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS).


As a reminder, the main NCS operators had chosen to suspend all flights to and from offshore facilities following a helicopter accident on Wednesday that claimed the life of an Equinor employee.

Flight safety and the safety of people travelling by helicopter are fundamental to our operations. Based on the dialogue with the Civil Aviation Authority, there is no indication that helicopter safety on the NCS will be reduced", commented Kjetil Hove, Executive Vice President Exploration and Production Norway.

Equinor adds that the Norwegian Safety Investigation Authority arrived in Bergen on Thursday morning and has begun investigations to understand the circumstances of the accident.
