GE: commissions 4 hydroelectric turbines in Nigeria

(CercleFinance.com) - GE Vernova announces that its Hydro Power division has completed the commissioning of four 175 MW Francis hydroelectric turbines and generators for the Zungeru project in Nigeria.


Located in Niger State, the 700 MW Zungeru project is Nigeria's second largest hydropower plant, and is expected to supply around 10% of Nigeria's total electricity needs with reliable, renewable energy. The site will also help control flooding and support irrigation in the region.

GE Vernova has been selected by China National Electrical Equipment Corporation (CNEEC) to design, supply, supervise the installation and commission the four hydroelectric units.
