Micron: massive US investment plan

(CercleFinance.com) - Micron Technology announced plans to invest 40 billion dollars through to the end of the 2020s to build state-of-the-art memory manufacturing capacity in the United States in several phases.


The investment, the largest in the nation's memory manufacturing history, will ultimately create up to 40,000 new jobs, including approximately 5,000 high-paying technical and operational positions at Micron.

This capacity is intended to ensure the resilience of the US supply chain as demand for memory increases in critical market segments such as automotive and data centres.

Micron is in the process of finalising its US-specific expansion plans and will share further details in the coming weeks. It expects to begin production with the new capacity in the second half of the decade.
