KKR: Mediawan and Leonine Studios join forces
(CercleFinance.com) - Mediawan and Leonine Studios announce the signing of an agreement between the two companies in an all-share transaction.
This combination will foster even closer collaboration between the two companies, and will make Mediawan a leading studio with a global presence in 13 countries, 85 labels, a catalog of around 30,000 hours of premium content and sales in excess of 1 billion euros.
Mediawan and Leonine first joined forces in 2020 when Mediawan acquired an approximate 25% stake in Leonine.
This transaction will enable Mediawan to complete its European presence with the addition of the German-speaking region, Europe's second-largest market for audiovisual content.
Leonine was founded in 2019 with the financial backing of KKR and Atwater Capital through the acquisition and merger of TMG, Universum Film, i&u TV and Wiedemann & Berg Film, followed by W&B Television, SEO Entertainment, hyperbole, BeetzBros Film Production and Toon2Tango.
In just five years, Leonine has become one of the largest independent integrated production, distribution and licensing companies in the German-speaking market.
