GE: circular economy projects with LafargeHolcim

(CercleFinance.com) - GE Renewable Energy and LafargeHolcim have announced a memorandum of understanding to explore circular economy solutions for using materials from decommissioned wind turbines.


Building on LafargeHolcim's experience in recovering energy the recuperation of wind turbine blades of over ten years, the companies are exploring new ways to recycle blades, including as a building material for new wind farms.

The Franco-Swiss building materials supplier points out that almost ten gigawatts of ageing turbines are expected to be revitalised or decommissioned in Europe by 2025.
