ExxonMobil: industrial pilot for CO2 capture in Rotterdam

(CercleFinance.com) - ExxonMobil is to carry out an industrial CO2 capture pilot project at one of its production sites in Rotterdam, with the stated aim of decarbonizing its CO2-intensive industries.


The project aims to validate the performance and smooth operation of the liquid carbonate fuel (CFC) technology developed in collaboration with its partner FuelCell Energy.

This CO2 capture installation will also enable us to assess the technical difficulties and costs associated with operating such a project.

Esso's Rotterdam plant will be the first complex to be equipped with this technology, which could then be deployed in other units in the event of a successful demonstration.
