Costco: November sales up 9.2%; shares rise

(CercleFinance.com) - US warehouse club operator Costco Wholesale's November same-store sales rose 9.
2%, a strong performance that prompted a rise in the retailer's shares on Thursday.

Excluding the impacts from changes in gasoline prices and FX factors, sales at stores open for at least a year, or comparable sales, still rose a solid 8.5% over the month, the company said.

For the four weeks to 2 December, the Issaquah, Washington-based group saw its net sales surge 9.8% to 12.8 billion dollars, it said.

The Costco share was up 1.2% after these figures, outperforming the S&P 500 index, which fell by 1.5%.
