Chevron: EU clears acquisition of REG

(CercleFinance.com) - Under EU Merger Regulations the European Commission has cleared the acquisition of sole control of Renewable Energy Group (REG) by Chevron Corporation, both of which are US companies.


REG produces biodiesel and renewable diesel, as well as the sale of carbon credits, petroleum-based products and petroleum-based products blended with biodiesel.

Meanwhile, Chevron Corporation produces crude oil and natural gas, fuels for transport, lubricants, petrochemicals and additives.

The Commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would not give rise to any competition concerns as the overlaps between the two companies' activities are very limited and in any case do not affect the European Economic Area.
