Ericsson: partnership with Swisscom to be extended

(CercleFinance.com) - Ericsson and Swisscom announced on Friday that they have extended the strategic partnership they signed in 2015 for a further three years.


Under the terms of the agreement, the Swedish telecom equipment supplier will continue to provide hardware and software for the Swiss operator's network.

The companies say that they aim to evolve Swisscom's infrastructures towards a smart network, in particular thanks to automation and AI.

This contract comes at a time when Swisscom has stated its ambition to improve the experience of its users over the next three years by further developing its mobile network.

The partners are also committed to focusing on sustainability, aiming to make the Swisscom mobile network one of the most efficient in the world in this area.

The network, which is already operated with 100% renewable energy at present, is to be the subject of a new program aimed at reducing the energy consumption of mobile communication facilities.
