Ericsson: reaches agreement with Intellectual Ventures

(CercleFinance.com) - Ericsson announces the signing of a licensing agreement with Intellectual Ventures.


This licensing agreement ends all patent infringement suits between both companies, including a lawsuit that already took place this year and which resulted in a verdict of 43 million dollars for Intellectual Ventures.

Since 2012, Intellectual Ventures has filed several patent infringement suits against Ericsson in the US and Europe. Although the terms of the agreement are confidential, Ericsson expects it to have a negative impact on its operating income in Segment Networks in the second quarter of 2019.

Ericsson has one of the strongest intellectual property portfolios in the sector, with over 49,000 patents worldwide, and Ericsson is the largest patent holder for mobile communication, the group said.
