Enel: acquires lion's share (70%) of Mooney
(CercleFinance.com) - Enel and Intesa Sanpaolo have signed an agreement with Schumann Investments, a company controlled by the international private equity fund CVC Capital Partners Fund VI, to acquire 70% of the capital of Mooney, a fintech company operating in retail banking and payments.
Enel X will buy 50% of Mooney's capital, while Banca 5, which currently holds a 30% stake in Mooney, will increase its stake to 50%, bringing the payments company under the joint control of both parties.
This acquisition represents a good growth opportunity for us in the fintech field that complements well the new industrial vision of the Enel Group, as digital payments are increasingly used on electricity bills as well as on advanced, "beyond commodities" services such as electric mobility, Enel's management said.
