Rolls-Royce: sells marine division

(CercleFinance.com) - The British engine manufacturer Rolls-Royce will sell its commercial marine division to the Norwegian group Kongsberg.


The entity concerned, which employs 3,600 people concentrated in Northern Europe, includes ship engines, deck equipment and associated services. In 2017, it generated sales of 817 million pounds, although made an operating loss of 70 million pounds.

The sale was concluded at an enterprise value of 500 million pounds sterling (about 570 million euros), although the sale will raise between 350 million and 400 million pounds.

Rolls-Royce's CEO, Warren East, says that this deal comes part of the group's simplification, as it focuses on aerospace engines.
