AstraZeneca: sells constipation drug rights to RedHill

(CercleFinance.com) - AstraZeneca on Tuesday said that it will sell the global commercial rights for its constipation drug Movantik, excluding Europe, Canada and Israel, to Israeli biopharmaceutical firm RedHill.


Under the terms of the deal, RedHill will make an upfront payment of 52.5 million dollars to AstraZeneca on closing and a further non-contingent payment of 15 million dollars in 2021.

Movantik is indicated for the treatment of opioid-induced constipation in adult patients with chronic non-cancer pain.

In 2019, Movantik's US sales reached 96 million dollars.
