Engie: green light for offshore wind farm in Australia

(CercleFinance.com) - Engie reports that Ocean Winds, its 50/50 joint venture with EDP Renewables dedicated to offshore wind power, has obtained feasibility approval from the Australian government for a 150 km2 area to develop a wind farm off the coast of Gippsland.

The project, High Sea Wind, will have an installed capacity of 1.3 GW, equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of one million homes in the state of Victoria, and will avoid up to 5.3 million tonnes of CO2 emissions per year.

These renewable energy projects, Australia's first offshore wind farms, will play a key role in achieving Victoria's target of 95% renewable energy generation by 2035," says the energy group.
