Renault: towards cooperation with Geely in South Korea
(CercleFinance.com) - Renault announced on Friday that it has signed a collaboration agreement with the Chinese automotive group Geely with a view to working together in South Korea.
Under the terms of the partnership, Renault-Samsung Motors (RSM) will produce combustion and hybrid electric vehicles at its Busan plant for the local and export markets.
The new vehicles will be based on Geely's Compact Modular Architecture (CMA), designed by its R&D centre in Sweden.
Renault says that the agreement is part of the "Renaulution" plan, which aims to upgrade the Renault-Samsung Motors range.
Production of the new vehicles is set to start in 2024.
