Eramet: agreement on financial guarantees for SLN

(CercleFinance.com) - In the run-up to the signing of the Nickel Pact, Eramet announces that it has reached an agreement with the French government to extend the financial guarantees granted to SLN (Société Le Nickel) to enable it to continue its mining activities in New Caledonia.


Note that SLN is required to provide financial guarantees to the relevant Caledonian provinces to ensure the reclamation and rehabilitation of mining sites after their definitive closure, should it be unable to carry out these operations.

Given its financial situation, SLN has been unable to provide these guarantees on its own since 2020. Since that date, Eramet has substituted itself for SLN to provide these guarantees, which represent off-balance sheet commitments.
