Telefónica: EU clears joint acquisition of Telxius

(CercleFinance.com) - Under EU Merger Regulation, the European Commission has cleared the acquisition of joint control of Telxius Telecom by Telefónica and Pontegadea Inversiones, all three of which are based in Spain.


Telxius operates an international network of high-capacity fiber-optic submarine cables, provides direct connectivity to the internet and offers a range of capacity services over its network, such as point-to-point connections with dedicated bandwidth.

The Commission concluded that the proposed transaction would not give rise to any competition concerns given the absence of horizontal or vertical overlaps between the companies' activities.
