Siemens Energy: Haru Oni plant commisioned

(CercleFinance.com) - Siemens Energy has announced the start of production at the Haru Oni plant (owned by HIF Global) in Chile, a site described as the world's first fully integrated facility for the manufacture of carbon-neutral synthetic fuels.


The plant combines wind power, water and CO2 to produce e-methanol. Siemens Energy designed and managed the system integration of the HIF Global pilot plant in collaboration with Porsche and other partners.

The start of production of the first eFuels is a key step in the decarbonisation of the transport sector, especially in segments that are difficult or impossible to electrify, such as marine and aviation, or cars with internal combustion engines that are still in use, Siemens Energy says.
