Volkswagen: strategic chip agreement with onsemi

(CercleFinance.com) - US chipmaker onsemi announced on Wednesday that it has signed a strategic agreement with Volkswagen to supply power modules and semiconductors for its electric vehicles.


The Phoenix, Arizona-based company said its silicon carbide components will be used in the German carmaker's next-generation platform, particularly its front and rear wheel drive converters.

onsemi says that it already supplies numerous components to VW, including transistors, image sensors and power management ICs from its 19 production sites.
