Merck: success of 'Merck for Mothers' initiative

(CercleFinance.com) - Merck announces that 'Merck for Mothers', its global maternal health initiative, has already exceeded its target of reaching more than 30 million women with programs promoting safe, respectful and high-quality care, compared to the original target of 25 million women by 2025.


Merck for Mothers is part of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG 3), which aims to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all.

More specifically, the initiative aims to create a world in which no woman has to die giving life. It also addresses the first target of MDG 3, namely to reduce the global maternal mortality ratio to less than 70 per 100,000 live births by 2030.
