Waga Energy: start-up of a unit in the Ardennes

(CercleFinance.com) - On April 26, Waga Energy announced the startup of a production unit at the Éteignières waste recovery and disposal facility (IVEDA) in the Ardennes, in partnership with the local semi-public company Arcavi.

The unit uses its Wagabox technology to produce biomethane from the gas emitted spontaneously by the waste buried on the site. This green gas is injected directly into the GRDF network to supply the municipalities of Rocroi and Bourg Fidèle.

The Wagabox unit can process up to 600 m3/h of gas and produce around 25 GWh of biomethane per year, depending on the methane concentration in the raw gas. For the time being, it replaces one of the two cogeneration engines installed on the site.

Next year, once the second engine has been shut down, it will process all the gas available. It will then be able to supply more than 2,500 homes, thus avoiding the emission of around 3,000 tonnes of eqCO2 per year into the atmosphere.

'Its commissioning will significantly increase the site's energy efficiency and provide local, renewable energy to replace fossil fuels, particularly in transport, industry and district heating', emphasizes Waga Energy.
