Qualcomm: launches GSMA certified iSIM on Snapdragon
(CercleFinance.com) - Thales and Qualcomm today announced the launch of the first GSMA-certified secure iSIM on Qualcomm's Snapdragon mobile platform, to bring flexible and compact connectivity to smartphones.
iSIM can now offer device manufacturers new opportunities to save space, reduce build and logistics costs, while maintaining best-in-class security, they said. Like Thales' eSIM, the new iSIM is fully compliant with the GSMA Remote SIM Provisioning standard, meaning that its subscriptions can be managed remotely. Kaleido Intelligence says that the emergence of iSIM enhances existing SIM and eSIM offerings, and could account for 19% of all eSIM shipments by 2027, i.e. 300 million.
