Moderna: Q3 net income slumps 69%

In particular due to an increase in cost of sales (from $722m to $1100m) and an increase in R&D expenditure (from $521m to $820m), total expenditure rose from $1411m to $2198m.

Against this backdrop, the company's quarterly profit collapsed from 3.33 billion dollars to 1.04 billion dollars, down 69%.

Diluted EPS came in at $2.67 compared to $8.27 a year earlier, a figure that remains below consensus.
