USA: weekly jobless claims up
(CercleFinance.com) - The Labor Department announced that 243,000 new U.
S. jobless claims were registered for the week ending July 8, up 20,000 on the previous week, which was revised upwards from 222,000 to 223,000.
The four-week moving average - more representative of the underlying trend - came in at 234,750, up 1,000 on the previous week.
Finally, the number of people receiving regular benefits rose by 20,000 to 1,867,000 during the week of July 1, the most recent period available for this statistic.
