Apple: Brussels calls for iPad compliance

(CercleFinance.com) - On Monday, the European Commission ruled that Apple's iPad must also comply with the obligations set out in its Digital Market Regulation.

This decision means that the device's operating system will also have to comply with the compliance measures put in place by Brussels, notably to enable users to easily uninstall any software application on the iPad.

Users will also have to be able to easily change default settings and select, via selection screens, other browsers or search engines on their iPad.

The Commission says it has granted Apple six months to comply with this interoperability obligation.

Alongside Alphabet, Amazon, Meta and Microsoft, Apple is considered by the European Union to be one of the "six gatekeepers" that must comply with the obligation of fair markets in the digital sector.
