Amazon: progress in packaging reduction

(CercleFinance.com) - Amazon reports that more than 50% of its shipments in Europe are now delivered in reduced, recyclable packaging (paper bags or cardboard envelopes), or even without any overpackaging at all, as has been the case for more than 700 million shipments since 2019.


Thanks to Amazon's Shipped Without Additional Packaging program, eligible items requiring no additional packaging are thus shipped directly in the manufacturer's original packaging, with simply the addition of an address label.

In addition to reducing waste, the absence of additional packaging reduces the weight of shipments, and therefore the quantity of emissions linked to parcel delivery, as well as the volume of packaging to be recycled", emphasizes the online distribution giant.
