Heineken: appoints new chief commercial officer
(CercleFinance.com) - Dutch brewer Heineken on Friday said that it has appointed Avon's James Thompson as chief commercial officer to replace Jan Derck van Karnebeek, who is leaving the company.
Thompson, a British national, is currently the head of brand, category and stores at US beauty product maker Avon.
He previously held a number of senior international management roles at Diageo, the maker of Guinness, and at consumer-goods giant Unilever.
"James has an excellent track record and a wealth of experience in premium brand building, consumer centricity, innovation and leading multi-category development," said Heineken's CEO, Dolf van den Brink.
He will succeed Jan Derck van Karnebeek, who has decided to leave Heineken to pursue other opportunities elsewhere, as from 1 March 2021.
Under his leadership, Heineken's organic sales growth accelerated and the namesake brand posted its best performance in decades, the group said.
