ArcelorMittal: additional capability in Canada

(CercleFinance.com) - ArcelorMittal Dofasco, the Canadian subsidiary of ArcelorMittal, has announced that it can now add a coating of Aluminum Silicon (Alusi®) to its production of ArcelorMittal's patented hardenable steel Usibor®, for automotive structural components.


ArcelorMittal Dofasco has thereby become the only Canadian producer of Alusi Coated Usibor.

The total cost of the project is 24 million Canadian dollars and the first Alusi coated Usibor product should come off the line in the second quarter of 2022. The company will at that time be able to produce up to 160,000 tonnes of Alusi coated steel.
