SES: 5G satellite test successfully completed in UAE

(CercleFinance.com) - SES announced on Monday that it has successfully completed a 5G link in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) using its Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) satellite communications system.


The Luxembourg-based operator said that the project, which is a first in the Middle East, was carried out with the company "du", part of the Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (EITC).

The test aime to demonstrate how the O3b mPower system, positioned just 8,000 kilometres from the Earth's surface, can provide high-speed, low-latency connectivity services to remote energy sites, particularly in offshore.

The O3b mPower platform is set for a commercial launch this year.

Although not stratospheric, the stock is still up about 0.8% in early trading, outperforming a flat market in Paris.
