AstraZeneca: fast-track review of Covid vaccine by EMA?

(CercleFinance.com) - The European Medicines Agency (EMA) could announce this week its "rolling review" on the Covid-19 vaccine developed by AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford Bloomberg says this morning.

This procedure facilitates a quicker marketing authorisation.

European regulators are therefore about to begin an accelerated review of the Covid-19 vaccine, which suggests that the vaccine could be the first to be approved in Europe, the news agency says.

These assessments are used in emergency situations to enable regulators to view test data while development is underway to accelerate the approval of urgently needed drugs and vaccines, Bloomberg says.

Also note that the clinical trials of the AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine with the University of Oxford resumed on 14 September in the UK after the Medicines Health Regulatory Authority (MHRA) confirmed that it was safe.

The British committee has completed its investigations and has recommended that MHRA resume testing in the UK in complete safety.
