Thales: contract with US Army for at least 5 years

(CercleFinance.com) - Late yesterday Thales announced that it is one of two suppliers to the US Army that have been awarded a 6 billion dollar indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract to provide advanced tactical radios as part of the modernisation of the Army's tactical radio fleet.

The contract has a base period of five years, with an optional second five-year period following this. It is part of the country's effort to retire the outdated Single Channel Ground and Airborne Radio System (SINCGARS).

Under the contract, Thales will provide a tactical radio based on the AN/PRC-148 IMBITR (Enhanced Multiband Inter/Intra Team Radio) system - the latest in a family of battle-tested tactical voice and data radios.
