Nexans: wins E650m frame contract
(CercleFinance.com) - Nexans today announced that it has been awarded a frame contract worth over 650 million euros by Terna to provide an interconnection cabling solution for the Tyrrhenian link project in Italy.
As part of the deal, Nexans will manufacture and install 500 km of 500 kV material impregnated cable and fiber optic cable at a water depth of over 2,000 m, the deepest submarine power cable ever laid in the Mediterranean.
The Tyrrhenian project creates a new power corridor between Sicily, Sardinia and the Italian region of Campania, which will provide the first loop between both islands and the Italian mainland network.
