Bayer: names new chairman of supervisory board

(CercleFinance.com) - Bayer said it has named Norbert Winkeljohann, the former CEO of accounting giant PwC for Europe and Germany, as chairman of its supervisory board, effective from the end of April.


Winkeljohann, 62, will succeed Werner Wenning, 73, who has decided to step down with effect from the end of the annual stockholders' meeting on 28 April.

Wenning - who has been board chairman since 2012, elected to serve until 2022, said he originally intended to step down last year, when he reached the standard age limit.

He has worked at Bayer for over 50 years, having joined the company in 1966 as a commercial trainee. After holding various positions, he became CFO in 1997 and was chairman of its board of management between 2002 and 2010.
