Bayer: names new CIO to oversee digital, IT transition

(CercleFinance.com) - German drugmaker Bayer on Thursday named high-profile digital technology expert Bijoy Sagar as chief information officer, effective from 1 June.

Sagar, aged 50, joins the group from US medical technology company Stryker, where he was chief digital technology officer and member of its executive team.

He previously worked for top-tier pharma and biotech companies such as Amgen, Eli Lilly and Germany's Merck.

In his new role, Sagar will be in charge of leading the group's digital transformation and complete the transition that it began in IT.

The move will see Daniel Hartert, 61, leave Bayer after 12 years of service, retiring from his corporate career.
