BASF: towards new standard in document transfer

(CercleFinance.com) - BASF Pharma Solution and Merck KGaA announce that they have developed a new standard called "StaQRD" (Standard Quality and Regulatory Documentation) concerning the electronic transfer of regulatory and quality documentation, from suppliers to users in the pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical industry.


Until now, the exchange of quality and regulatory information has involved a manual process of transferring text and PDF files, and copying and pasting information. This process is not only time-consuming, but also error-prone, BASF said.

BASF explains that the StaQRD standard uses the widely adopted Extensible Markup Language (XML) to define mandatory and optional information, and to ensure consistency, harmonise descriptions and reduce the risk of error.
