BASF: adjusted EPS leaps 8-fold in Q2
(CercleFinance.com) - BASF's Q2 2021 sales came in at 19.
8 billion euros, up 56% y-o-y.
Meanwhile, EBITDA tripled (+199%) to 3.2 billion euros, while EBIT was 2.3 billion euros (vs. 59 million euros in Q2 2020).
BASF reported a quarterly net profit of 1.6 billion euros, a far cry from the loss of 878 million euros reported a year ago. As a result, quarterly adjusted EPS came in at 2.03 euros, compared to just 0.25 euro in 2Q2020.
Between H1 2020 and H1 2021, BASF's sales rose 33% to 39.1 billion euros, EBITDA leapt 82% to 6.3 billion euros, while its net profit rose from 7 million euros to 3.3 billion euros. H1 adjusted EPS increased 167% to 4.03 euros.
Against this backdrop, BASF has increased its outlook for 2021, with it now expecting sales of 74-77 billion euros (vs. a previous forecast range of 68 to 71 billion euros). EBIT before special items is expected to be between 7 and 7.5 billion euros, compared to the previous estimate range of 5 to 5.8 billion euros.
