Siemens: acquires ebm-papst's IDT business

(CercleFinance.com) - Siemens has signed an agreement to acquire ebm-papst's Industrial Drive Technology (IDT) business.


The business, which employs around 650 people, comprises smart, integrated mechatronic systems in the extra-low voltage protection range and innovative motion control systems.

The acquisition will complement the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio and strengthen Siemens' position as a leading supplier of solutions for flexible production automation.

Siemens AG and Digital Industries said that the acquisition will open up new business and new customers in the fast-growing market for smart battery-powered drive solutions in the field of intralogistics and mobile robotic solutions.
